220V AC socket in the Prado 150 - how useful is it? It's a 220V AC socket that is rated for 100W.. and it seems like its not particularly useful. Supply obviously comes from the vehicles single battery, and it only gets power when the vehicle is running.
Can a 150 series Prado have a second battery?
The best method to install a second battery in a 150 series Prado is to use a 12V DC to DC charger. This is because the alternators in the new vehicles to day have variable voltage output. So they will not charge a second battery fully. Especially if it is an AGM.
How much power does a Prado fridge need?
The specifics of the fridge say it needs 120 watts, 240volts and 0.5 amps. Does anyone know if the power to the rear of the Prado can handle running a fridge like that? How much power does an inverter need to run a fridge?
If 100watts/220v = 0.45Amps, then the power cable from the inverter to battery has to rated to draw 100watts of 12V which is 8.3Amps, most cars have a 10Amp 12V 120watt plug, which while the engine is running should supply enough current to power the fridge, if the inverter is running off a dual battery this would *almost* be enough to do it.
